Even for reloading. 44 magnum also has the added benefit of being able to shoot 44 special, which is even cheaper and less recoil. Great for plinking or practice. 45-70 has a lot more energy. Almost double at the muzzle.Being an old case, it does have some drawbacks among the benefits. The .45-70 case is notoriously thin-walled, and therefore the pressures must be kept low.
