IT seems that the orignal owner had cobra pipes put on the bike and he basically left only 1 inch of the baffle in there ( pulled it today and measured it ).Get quick and easy access to information specific to your Kawasaki vehicle. Connect DC meter to Black/Yellow and White wires on the regulator connector. Idle should be 12v. At 6 - 8k rpm you should have 14-15volts. The connections for the turn signals/running lights are inside the headlight bucket, the rear turn signals connect to connectors that resides in the front of the tool box (under the seat). The running lights should be lit even with a bad signal switch, or a bad flasher/relay. Its a real long shot, but check the bulbs.

Peer down to the bottom and you will see two small holes. Run a fine piece of copper wire through them to make sure they are clear. This is the most common cause of clutch slip when hot, ok when cold. Show more replies.Check for oil around the spark plug cavity and then explore this further. On the 1500, the service manul says a special tool is need to pull the spark plug tubes, but you can fashion a tool out of the rear axle nut and unscrew the tube. I'd bet the 800 is similar. Lift the rubber up and tighten the ring a bit,this is the choke tensioner. Elevater.I have this very similar problem on a 99 Vulcan 850 Classic. Starts great, runs down the highway, then cuts out. Few minutes later after switch is turned off/on it will start and run for a few more minutes. I keep thinking fuel/vaccuum problem, but electrical sounds plausible too.
